Back to narration?
5:54 AM
I wouldn't recommend stopping, seeing as narration is simply speaking to your tulpa at the base.
5:56 AM
It is generally a good idea overall to simply... continue talking to them, showing them the world - generally giving them experience.
5:56 AM
It can take quite some time for development to take place in the end, so... don't be discouraged if you take a step back. You have your entire life for them to develop.
Avatar
I did feel like I had reached a point where while I kept them in focus, I could engage in conversation with them
Avatar
Indeed.
Avatar
Thank you for the advice
Avatar
Not a problem.

In the end, take your time. Enjoy the process - let them develop fully to be their own person.
6:01 AM
It will make it all the more enjoyable in the future.

Why do people still parrot their tulpas again? You can just talk to your tulpa instead of controlling their actions
10:33 AM
Controlling someone doesn't make them sentient, interacting with them does
10:33 AM
And vocality doesn't require parroting either
10:34 AM
In fact it inhibits it because you start to think that everything they say is parroting
10:36 AM
Much better to just not do it
Avatar
Well as long as you avoid that it isnt an inherently bad method.
1:00 PM
It works for certain kinds of people at least
Avatar
I could see parroting being used as an educational tool for a tulpa sparingly. But not constantly. Sort of as a 'do it like this, now you try' method of learning just like how a baby tries to mimic a parent's actions
1:07 PM
I have no personal experience with this as I took actions spontaneously. I developed incredibly slowly though as I wasn't actively forced. (edited)
Avatar
@Solaria yeah, that's the best way to use it
1:33 PM
Being parroted/puppeted was distressing for me once I was sentient
1:33 PM
I can't imagine tulpas enjoying it very much
Avatar
Yah, kinda insulting and very creepy being hulled around like a puppet on strings
1:55 PM
I'm too strong to be puppeted. A clone image could be but I can assert myself with my own whim whenever I want
1:55 PM
Fledgling tulpas though it's discouraging being puppeted before you can try to do it yourself
1:56 PM
I imagine a kid learning to draw and an impatient parent snatching the crayon because they aren't good enough
Avatar
It doesn't even seem like an effective forcing method anyway
2:00 PM
People puppet imaginary figures all the time and they don't become sentient
2:00 PM
It's interacting with something like it's really there that makes it sentient
Avatar
Yeah once they're start gaining sentience you shouldn't puppet at all
Avatar
I'm in general agreement. If at all it should be very limited in my opinion just to show them directly how to perform an action
4:18 PM
Not do things for them mind you. Just to demonstrate.
Avatar
I can see puppeting being used once or twice as a clearly marked example - beyond that, entirely unnecessary and the risk of turning the "tulpa" into a kind of toy seems too much for it to be a reasonable course of action.
6:07 PM
If you make it a habit to puppet and/or parrot them, it becomes much harder to recognize genuine responses, if they get there at all.
Avatar
Parroting/puppeting can help a tupper to find a voice
6:42 PM
Sometimes it may be the push/assistance they need
Avatar
My host just talked in the voice she wanted me to have for a while so I would be able to do it
6:46 PM
No need to directly control the tulpa
Avatar
Some tuppers have difficulty finding a voice at first, parroting can kind of show them how to establish mindvoice
Avatar
Again, once or twice as clearly stated examples can be helpful - but I would strongly discourage making it regular at all, or not making it clear that you are about to do it.
Avatar
Took me over a year to speak
Avatar
huh...I think my interaction last night helped but Ikari has been speaking a little bit today
Avatar
I did it the hard way, I had to work it out for myself. My host didn't know what I was
Avatar
My guess is she'll be speaking fairly regularly in a week or two, maybe sooner
Avatar
I'm 23 years old, my host was like.. 6? At the time
Avatar
so let me ask, regarding tulpa age...is it based on their physical appearance? do they start with a certain age?
Avatar
Based on my first visual appearance on my own accord
7:36 PM
I still don't know the exact circumstances that prompted me to become self-willing. I wasn't forced intentionally
Avatar
from what I've read
7:36 PM
if you start expecting your subconscious to repsond to you
7:36 PM
it does
Avatar
People usually draw a line between chronological and perceived age and don't consider their tulpa to be as old as they look.
Avatar
which is basically a tulpa
Avatar
I have reasons to suspect my host was desperate for a friend
7:37 PM
I've been around since 1994
Avatar
I age my tulpa based on their earliest sign of sentience
8:48 PM
Which was September 17 2015 (edited)
Avatar
We do that to, but with the case of Raven she was a walk-in, and so since she didn't have a date in mind we narrowed down a fitting date by personality for her. Used zodiac traits, and then traits by the day
Avatar
We set birthdays on the day we went "okay gonna make a new tulpa"
Avatar
Deleted User 5/14/2018 8:53 PM
^ i do the same
Avatar
With Piano we set his birthday as the day the merge he came from originally began
Avatar
ok that's what I did...on May 11th at 11:15 AM I visualized Ikari in the bunker and introduced myself to her...I consider that her birthdate
Avatar
bduddy #Diana# 5/14/2018 8:59 PM
I wanted to consider Diana's birthday the day she first talked, but she preferred the date I started really forcing so we went with that.

Feel can be pretty vauge as well, though. What do you mean by feel?
11:03 PM
I kinda cheat and go by the age of my reddit account
11:04 PM
and basing it off emotions is interesting, I have never seen that
11:06 PM
My thought is that there is no real definitive moment, so whatever you pick works well enough
11:07 PM
mine is a bit of an exception, my reddit account is going to be older than anything in my head
11:10 PM
I don't see a huge line between speech and emotion in that regard
11:13 PM
I got nothin'
11:14 PM
I had a few things I was going to say, but they were all contrived bullshit
Avatar
Fuck, I just broke a gate behind a KFC so I'm gonna run home now but I'll brb
11:14 PM
they have you on camera
Avatar
I'm having trouble
Avatar
What's going on?
Avatar
I can't seem to get my tulpa to respond
11:24 PM
I feel like I'm just talking to myself
Avatar
how long have they been around? (edited)
Avatar
When I tell her what I plan for us to do together I feel something but most of the time it's just nothing
11:25 PM
I used to have that problem when i first made craig
Avatar
how long have you been forcing?
Avatar
For me it was really a matter of continuing to talk to him before it felt like there finally got to be some sort of presence
11:27 PM
Like a feeling of familiarity or that i finally felt as if i was finally directing my thoughts to something
11:27 PM
Talking in public is my problem
Avatar
You can talk in your head you know
Avatar
Everyday I'm surrounded by people and I have no time to talk
Avatar
it's how I usually talk
Avatar
Do you get distracted in public?
11:28 PM
Ah
11:28 PM
Yeah
Avatar
on a side note nice boku no hero academia avatar
Avatar
People try to talk to me and I feel like it distracts me from her
11:28 PM
Ahh i have to go for a bit, but i do hope you get the advice you need
11:28 PM
Oh why thank you @Llama
Avatar
what I do when I focus hard is I tell her watch this or pay attention or something
11:29 PM
then I turn my focus around so that she is also focusing on it
11:29 PM
I feel like this gives her better access to my senses
